Plan your next vacation to see silverback gorillas in Rwanda

Africa is a land which offers adventures of a lifetime. The excitement of African safari draws in tourists from across the globe. The diversity of Africa is really extraordinary and consists of mountains, African bush, beautiful colors, exotic large animals, different tribes and many more. Among the several African safari, Rwanda primates tours and safaris are truly once-in-a-lifetime experience. The natural habitat of the mountain gorillas are just in three places on the earth- Rwanda, Congo and Uganda.

Rwanda Silverback Gorilla Safari gives the heart pounding experience to the visitor. Gorilla safari tracker guides are very experienced. They are expert in finding clues to the gorillas’ location – for instance, identifying footprints, chewed bamboo, dung, and celery stalks, and also abandoned nests.

There are good chances of smelling the gorillas before you actually see them.  Once the visitor reaches near the gorillas, the tracker moves forward and makes soft smacking and groaning sounds with his mouth to assure the group that humans are approaching.

Visitors should maintain “Gorilla Etiquettes”. He should never look into the eyes of the mountain gorillas directly. They consider fixed stares to be very aggressive. The visitor must always follow the guidelines laid down by the guide. The guide has daily contact with the gorillas and understands them well. Smoking, eating, and/or drinking are not permitted within 200 meters of a gorilla family.

It is very important to be physically fit as the visitor has to climb up steep slopes, cross slippery as well as muddy grounds- all these to mention the least. No flash photography is allowed, so the visitor must make sure that his camera is on high speed without any shutter sound. The visitor must not forget to put on hiking boots as the terrain will be tough. Since the forests are rainforests, it becomes an absolute necessary to wear a raincoat.
